Augusta, GA (WJBF) – The Augusta Riverwalk is finally re-open.
The riverfront portion was closed by officials after being flooded for weeks.
Last weekend the river level was low enough for the clean-up to begin. More than 50 volunteers, the Savannah Riverkeeper and Augusta Recreation, Parks and Facilities worked 650 hours restoring the riverfront.
Some damages include minor erosion on the low-lying areas of 8th street, areas of grass that will need to be patched-up near the Boat House, and less than $2,000 dollars of electrical work will need to be fixed along the Riverwalk.
