Augusta, GA (WJBF) – It could be shades of 2011 on the Augusta Commission.
A forensic audit is usually done when there’s suspicion of fraud. Five years ago, Commissioners also considered a forensic audit of the TEE Center project, the downtown parking deck, and the Laney-Walker revitalization work, but one was not done because of the cost.
Augusta Commissioner Bill Lockett says those three projects still need to be investigated. “We have been talking about transparency for the last several months. With all the negative coverage this got, a few years back, this is something we need to dust off and and go back and revisit this time, in the form of a forensic audit.”
Commissioners voted Tuesday to put off a discussion over whether to do the audit until after this year’s Masters tournament.
