RALEIGH, NC (WSPA) — ITT Education Services announced Tuesday it will close all of its ITT Technical Institute campuses.
In a news release posted on its website, the for-profit educational company said that it will cease operations after the US Department of Education said the for-profit company, can no longer accept students who use federal student loans.
It’s part of a bigger government crackdown on for-profit schools that don’t meet accreditation standards.
The school will not offer its planned September quarter, according to the release.
The company also announced that “overwhelming majority” of its 8,000 employees’ positions will be eliminated.
We believe the government’s action was inappropriate and unconstitutional, however, with the ITT Technical Institutes ceasing operations, it will now likely rest on other parties to understand these reprehensible actions and to take action to attempt to prevent this from happening again.”
ITT Tech has more than 130 campuses across 38 states, including one in Greenville, SC.
