2 accused of stealing parrot at gunpoint during burglary in South Carolina

Two men have been arrested after deputies say they broke into an Anderson County home and stole a bird at gunpoint.

Christopher Hembree and Stephen Rochester have been arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, first degree Burglary, and Simple Larceny.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on Austin Drive regarding an armed robbery on February 24.

Victims told investigators that two men entered the home with a handgun, stole a South African Macaw Parrot named “Lewis,” valued at $1,500.

Investigators say they were able to track the suspects to a home on American Airline Road where they recovered the parrot and arrested Hembree and Rochester.

Rochester is being held in the Anderson County Detention Center on $22,000 bond. Hembree is being held in the Anderson County Detention Center without bond.
