(WJBF) – Hey “In Your Neighborhood” friends! Welcome back!

IYN was on a brief break to focus on pandemic and protest coverage, but we felt it was time to showcase the rest of season as the places we went to opened back up.

I could not be happier to have interviewed my friends at Second City Distilling Co. This crew is the nicest group of people running the only distillery in downtown Augusta.

They got their start in Edgefield, South Carolina opening Carolina Moon and wanted to share their craft across the river… and let me tell you, it does not disappoint.

I want to disclose that we recorded this episode before the pandemic outbreak. You might have recognized owner, David Long, on our news coverage. They took all of their alcohol and started making hand sanitizer. This company is owned by individuals with huge hearts filled with whisk– oops. I mean, a love for whiskey!

They also make rum, gin, vodka and moonshine.

Long says he started making whiskey by accident, but I’d call it destiny. Rick, Mark, himself, and the rest of his staff were so welcoming, from letting me shake up some drinks to even labeling a bottle… (I almost broke…sorry! I’m a reporter not a bottler, OK!)

It doesn’t stop at just making spirits. They do tours and they even whip up drinks with a bar full of their own homemade product.

While you’re there, check out the map of where they distribute to all over the nation. They’re product did so well in the last year, Costco picked them up.

Hey, I won’t give it all away. If you’d like to know more details on how it’s made and what they do, kick back, relax… if you’re of age, pour yourself a cold Second City beverage, and watch the episode!!

It will leave you in good spirits. I promise.

Thanks for watching,

Jenna Kelley
