BURNETTOWN, S.C. (WJBF) – Water has been shut off due to a leak at the water tank.
According to the Burnettown Police Department Facebook page, residents are being advised that due to the leak at the water tank, crews have the water shut off from the tank.
According to the Mayor of Burnettown, the busted water main is on Breeze Hill Road and Cathy Drive.
Authorities are advising customers that once the water service is restored, that they need to vigorously boil water for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking until further notice, and any ice made from water which has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
According to the notice to residents, there has been no confirmed contamination of the system; however, because of the interruption in the service, the potential for contamination exists.
