We have more information when it comes to what Augusta National has in mind for Washington Road.
As we first reported, the club has filed plans with the city for the construction of what is called the Washington Road Underpass.
It’s a 26 foot deep tunnel under the road, big enough for trucks to use.
City Traffic Engineers have reviewed the proposal and say there will be no impact to traffic on Washington Road due to the Augusta National project.
And neighbors say it could be a help at tournament time.
“I hope it does. I hope it does, yeah. I think it will be a good idea, help traffic and it will probably be less on the people who live in this area right here too,” said Amanda Hardy who lives National Hills.
Traffic Engineers say the underpass work will start sometime after this year’s tournament.
