Vigil held for 3-year-old accidentally shot Monday night

A community is mourning the loss of a three year old, who family members say was shot accidentally.

McKinley Davis, who’s family and friends called “Boonie,” was killed Monday night.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.

Tuesday night,  the little boy was remembered by friends and family.

Some of those family members were gracious enough to speak with us and tell us how they’ll remember Boonie.

“Just to be around him. He always had a smile. There was not a sad day in his entire 3 years. The only time I’ve ever seen him not frown is when he had a ear infection and even then he up trying to put a smile on someone else’s face,” says Boonie’s grandfather, Steven Butterfield.

A balloon release in Boonie’s memory was part of that vigil.

So far, no charges have been filed.
