Family, faculty, and students at T. W. Josey High School honored LaTania Janell Carwell’s life with a scholarship.

Three Josey seniors, Danielle Bullock, Marcus Fielding, and Tremaine Walker all received $500. The awards are a part of the LaTania Janell Carwell Scholarship Award.

The scholarship stems from reward money collected while Carwell was missing. Monique Braswell sponsored the majority of the scholarship along with Josey Cheerleaders and the community.

Braswell said, “I would love to keep it going on and on and on and on and that’s probably what’s going to happen. We’re going to continue it and they’re going to get bigger and bigger and bigger and we’ll be able to service more children as well.”

Carwell would have graduated May 2019 from Josey.

Carwell’s mother, Tanya Tripp, and stepfather, Leon Tripp, are both charged with Carwell’s murder.
