Tanya Faye Tripp to appear in court in May

An Augusta mother charged in the death of her daughter is set for jury trial this month.

Tanya Faye Tripp is scheduled for court on Tuesday, May 28 at Augusta Judicial Center in Supetior Courtroom 2E at 9 a.m. Judge Michael Annis is the presiding judge. Tripp is charged with murder in the second degree, concealing the death of another and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive. Tripp was arrested and charged in the death of her daughter, 16-year-old LaTania Janell Carwell, after she was reported missing in 2016. Authorities found Carwell buried in a shallow grave near her home in March of 2018. There will be a preliminary calendar call on Friday, May 10 at 9 a.m. in Superior Courtroom 2E, but defendants are not required to attend.
