The top project in an Augusta University marketing class, now has a chance to become a new city event.
The student’s proposal is called Bridging the Gap, and would use the Fifth Street Bridge as the location.
The proposal calls for closing the bridge to traffic and setting up tables for a fancy dinner,
The idea is proceeds from the event could go to help homelessness while giving those attending a very unique dining experience over the river.
We looked at other cities, at what they’re doing Columbia, Sacramento Nashville all have these wonderful bridge dinners, live music, craft cocktails, engaging with these young millennial and the live music.
Augusta Commissioners heard the student’s presentation Tuesday and directed the Recreation and Parks Department to begin work on the project for possible staging sometime in the spring of next year.
