Snake caution signs on Riverwalk

CSRA News

The city of Augusta wants people coming to Riverwalk to watch their step.

The park has been a popular spot for walkers for more than three decades but now they’re being alerted they may share some space with snakes.

We asked visitors if the snake warnings make them a bit jumpy.

“Absolutely want the warning. If you want to walk, you want to walk. It’s good to have the caution and I’m terrified of snakes but it’s not going to stop me from walking,” said Kristen White.

“Do you think it might scare other people away?”

“Some. If you’re not dedicated to walking and just wanted the scenery, it may.” said White.

The city says the signs went up as a precaution. They are also at other recreation sites like the Mayor’s Pond and Diamond Lakes.
