Richmond County Board of Education career fair

Experts say more than 260,000 jobs were added in April 2019. Now it’s the time of the year where schools are looking to fill empty slots on the faculty and staff roster for the next school year.

The Richmond County School System is hoping to hire new teachers in all subjects and some new staff members.

It seems like there’s no better time to get a job with a Georgia school system. Not too long ago, Georgia lawmakers approved pay raises for teachers under a new state spending plan. Starting on July 1st, teachers will receive a 3,000 dollar pay bump.

Increasing the average salary for an elementary school teacher in Georgia which is more than $55,000. Although, teachers are not the only ones who got a raise.

Richmond County School Systems Director of Communications Kaden Jacobs said, “It’s not just for teachers, our bus drivers got another two percent. School nutrition workers actually got four percent and other classified employees. Administrative staff got two percent.”

Of course, come dressed to impress with a resume in hand. The career fair will be on May 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 864 Broad Street in downtown Augusta.
