Augusta, GA (WJBF) With the flip of the calendar to start a new month, the ribbons outside of the Georgia Cancer Center make another change.
For the month of May, the community is remembering those who are fighting Melanoma and Skin, Brain and Bladder cancers. Physicians specializing in these forms of cancer spoke with the crowd in attendance about the importance of this cancer ribbon.
Survivors of Melanoma, Skin, Brain, and Bladder Cancer led the crowd to hang the ribbons of purple, gold and black. Visitors at the ribbon hanging were also given the opportunity to write on the ribbons in honor or memory of a loved one.
The monthly ribbon hanging at the Georgia Cancer Center is part of an ongoing awareness campaign that lasts all year, with ribbon color changing each month.
