EDGEFIELD COUNTY, SC (WJBF) – The American Red Cross says a shelter in North Augusta is now closed.

Together with its partners, disaster-trained volunteers with the Palmetto SC Region of the American Red Cross opened a shelter at Sweetwater Baptist Church on Sweetwater Road in North Augusta for those impacted in Edgefield County by severe weather Sunday evening.

Blankets, cots, food, snacks, drinks and comfort kits containing personal hygiene items were provided.

“The Red Cross will continue staying in contact with its government and community partners to ensure that the needs of residents are being met,” officials said.

Volunteers told NewsChannel 6’s Shawn Cabbagestalk no one utilized the option.
