Is the state overstepping its bounds at Augusta’s airport?
State lawmakers, Augusta commissioners and the airport board are meeting about a bill that would create state oversight of all Georgia’s regional airports.
Augusta’s airport director described it as a proposed hostile takeover. He says there is plenty of oversight at airports already.
“Our airport has done very well, but it’s even a challenge today with the amount of oversight governance that we have, so from a management standpoint less is better we really do need to be agile to be able to move and be successful as an airport,” said Hewrbert Judon, Executive Director of Augusta Regionl Airport.
City leaders agreed to have a resolution from the Augusta, and airport commissions opposing the proposed bill
