Pedestrian dies after being struck on I-20 Westbound in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is reporting the death of 44-year-old Tamesha Singletary following an accident on I-20 at mile marker 8.

Tamesha Singletary was pronounced dead at Augusta University Medical Centers from injuries after being struck by a trailer of semi-truck.

Ms. Singletary stopped to help a car that had run out of gas. As she was filling the car with gas, she was struck by the trailer of a west bound semi-truck.

She will be autopsied in Newberry. Highway Patrol is continuing this investigation.

All Westbound lanes of I-20 were blocked in Aiken County at mile marker 8 after an accident involving a pedestrian and a tractor trailer truck

The accident occurred just after noon Friday.

No word on the extent of injuries involved.
