The parents of a juvenile involved in the hit and run death of Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Frank Dodson will soon face a McDuffie County judge.

Jacquelyn Atkins and Brian Atkins were indicted last month on charges related to the case.

They’re expected to be arraigned on September 25.

According to court documents, Jacquelyn Atkins, the owner of the car and mother of the passenger, is facing two charges of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and one charge of Permitting an Unlicensed Person to Drive.

Brian Atkins Sr., the father of the passenger, is charged with one county of Tampering with Evidence.

Officials say the incident happened at the intersection of East Hill Street and Black Street where the juveniles, driving a Ford Fusion, allegedly ran a stop sign and hit Investigator Dodson’s motorcycle.

They then reportedly fled the scene, went home, came back to the scene and then returned home.
