History lives on in downtown Augusta
They cut the ribbon Thursday at the old E.M. Andrews Warehouse on Ellis Street.
It’s more than 100 years old.
It’s been home to many businesses, but has been empty since the 1990s.
Now, a million dollars in renovations later, it’s back open as an apartment building.
“It’s very exciting. We have 12 new walk-up apartments. This building has been vacant for over 20 years so it is really quite the celebration here today,“ says Margaret Woodard, Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority.
And good news when it comes to downtown parking, the building has its own parking lot.
