In with the new and out with the old when it comes to Augusta’s bus shelters
As we first reported the Augusta Transit Department is officially scraping the plan to put used bus shelters on the street.
Two years ago the city was offered free used bus shelters from Jacksonville Florida.
54 were brought in but they were in such poor shape it was determined they were too expensive to fix up.
The Interim Transit Director says the plan now is to use sales tax money to put in new shelters.
The hope is to have the first ten on the street in 90 days.
