Augusta leaders flying high over new air service. 

As we told you Tuesday, American Airlines has announced it will begin daily flights between Augusta and Dallas starting in March of 2019.

Mayor Hardie Davis says as Augusta grows so should Augusta Regional Airport.

“It’s good news for Augusta. Clearly people are choosing Augusta, whether it be corporations who are moving businesses here, airlines who are coming now and of course families choosing Augusta as well. So it’s a good day for our city,” said Mayor Hardie Davis. 

The service will be one afternoon flight from Dallas to Augusta and one afternoon flight from Augusta To DFW Airport.

If you’re looking to head west you can begin purchasing tickets on October 8th.

The airport still has an $800 thousand dollar grant in hand that it’s planning to use to attract  another direct flight to Washington DC
