Mayor’s new car still raising questions

CSRA News

Some Augusta leaders are not finished talking about a new vehicle for Mayor Hardie Davis.

Last week, commissioners approved going out for bids for a new Chevrolet Tahoe for the mayor.

The written proposal called for a vehicle to be used by the Mayor’s office.

That has Commissioner Marion Williams saying that if it’s an office car, the vehicle needs to be decaled with the city logo.

“The code does not require it to be,” says Mayor Hardie Davis.

“So it won’t say City of Augusta?”

“That’s correct and that’s consistent with the city code,” said Mayor Davis.

Williams missed last week’s meeting where the SUV was approved, and says he also wants to know where the vehicle will be parked and who in the office will be driving it.
