Mayor says city has Fleming Park funds

Rewiring and re-lighting of Fleming Park. Mayor Hardie Davis says it will get done.

Tuesday, commissioners approved the complete overhaul. Back in October, 12-year-old Melquan Robison was electrocuted after touching an outfield fence.

City leaders did not discuss how much it would cost or where the money would come from.

“Money that we have in the General Fund,” said Mayor Hardie Davis.

General Fund money, not SPLOST?

“It could be. I think we have that option as well, but I think the most important piece is that the city is not going to ask our taxpayers to pay for this. We have the resources to be able to do that right now.” said Mayor Davis.

“We have the resoures to be able to do that right now,” said Mayor Davis.

The Central Services Department says it’s preparing costs estimates for the project right now.
