A Washington County man was found dead inside a mobile home that caught fire on Wednesday morning.
According to the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office, the fire happened shortly after 1:00 am at a residence on the 200 Block of Booker T. Washington Street.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a 16 year old boy and 17 year old boy who were able to escape the home. Investigators say the boys father 64 year old Charles Edward Brown was found on the floor in the kitchen.
Brown’s body will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. Fire officials say the fire originated in the bedroom but have not determined how it started.
No smoke detectors were found in the home. The fire remains under investigation.
