Members of Augusta’s LGBT community are applauding city leaders tonight.
As we told you on Wednesday a commission sub-committee recommended a resolution of support to adding to the city handbook workplace protections for gender identify and sexual orientation.
The group Equality Augusta has been working with to incorporate the language into policy and hopes the commission will approve it in June, during pride month.
“It will just provide a level of support and comfort and predictability that members of our community deserve just like everybody else. We hope they will pass it on June 19th. That would be a huge way to kick off Pride Week,” says Matt Duncan of Equality Augusta
Duncan says the commission action would be a huge step benefit the the LGBT community.
