Augusta Commissioners say they’re honoring the good side of the God Father of Soul.
This is the resolution approved Tuesday, it calls for May 3rd to be James Brown Day in Augusta in perpetuity,
May 3rd is his birthday.
The idea for the James Brown Day came from Commissioner John Clarke.
“Everybody has got two sides and sometimes its not pretty there’s a thing called forgiveness which I know about it was just time to honor the man the music and the icon and let’s move forward,” said Commissioner Clarke.
Clarke says the resolution was -not- in response to the commission decision last month, not to contribute 10 thousand dollars to Friday’s James Brown Birthday bash at the Miller Theater.
