Making an impact in our community, one wheelbarrow of mulch at a time!

Mulch, and much more, as 485 volunteers  gave their time and talents to the United Way of the CSRA‘s annual Project Serve day.

Chances are, you saw some of your friends and co-workers wearing work boots and gloves today…  as some 500 volunteers spent the day sprucing up and doing various enhancements at dozens of non-profit sites in greater Augusta.

This was the United Way of the CSRA’s Project Serve day. 30 different businesses supplied teams of volunteers to spend their workday giving back.

Brittany Burnett is the CEO and Executive Director of United Way of the CSRA.

“Some say, I like to do yardwork, I like to paint, or I like to quilt.  There’s something for eveyone.”

You’re looking at video of the WJBF NewsChannel 6 team, along with our Giving Your Best partners South State Bank and University Healthcare System spreading what felt like tons of mulch around the grounds of the United Way’s One-Stop Village, right beside the Kroc Center campus on Broad Street.

Some of the other sites benefitting from volunteer labor today included Friendship Community Center, Hope House and the Girl Scouts’ Camp Tanglewood.

30 local companies combined efforts to serve 33 project sites across 4 counties in the River Region today.  To learn more about getting your company involved in Project Serve, click here.
