It started around 7:30 a.m. at a home on Crown Heights Way.

According to GBI Special Agent Pat Morgan, the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit from Atlanta conducted a search of the residence.

Investigators tell us the suspect is 21-year-old John Malone. He will be held at Columbia County Detention Center then will be transported elsewhere.

He’s charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of children. A spokesperson for the GBI says Malone had several images of child pornography.

The suspect was not at home at the time of the raid, but arrived shortly afterward as agents collected evidence.

They say they’ve been tracking Malone since October.

Neighbors who didn’t want to go on camera said this is a quiet neighborhood and they did not expect something like this to happen.

They say many people in this neighborhoood have kids and they added they always keep a careful watch.
