Augusta makes it’s pitch to take over Ambulance service,

City leaders going before the state E-M-S region 6 zoning subcommittee to make the case that Gold Cross should be replaced as the zone provider for Augusta Richmond County.

City officials telling the sub-committee  since Gold Cross took over the zone, there’s been complaints about response times and t costs to patients.

Gold Cross officials dispute  response times have increased,   but agree their costs to customers  have gone up.

They say they told city leaders that when commissioners cut the gold cross subsidy by 700 thousand dollars.

” Well the price has gone up as you were told prior to the contract running out we actually told the commission and the administrator we would have to raise prices to help subsidize some of the indigent patients that’s what the subsidy pays for,” said Vince Brogdon CEO of Gold Cross.
