Ft. Gordon soldiers go home to see family for the first time in months

CSRA News

Fort Gordon soldiers in training are about to head home for the holidays. For many, it will be the first time they have seen their families in months.

Right now, soldiers are packing their bags and preparing to head home for Christmas… while family members patiently wait to see their loved ones. Nearly 3000 soldiers will be to hug their families and sleep in their own beds for the first time since basic training started.

This happens each year at Fort Gordon. Men and women who signed up to fight for our country leave their military family to be with their other family.

We spoke with some soldiers last year at this event. We asked one soldier what was the first thing he was going to do when he gets home. He responded: “I’m going to hug my sister.” And his dad added: “I’m in the Air Force and he went Army. We’re super stoked to have him in the military family.”

Soldiers will be picked up from several different places here on Fort Gordon and will return to work on Thursday, January 3rd.
