FORT GORDON (WJBF) — A former Fort Gordon soldier was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in federal prison after admitting he distributed child pornography.
The U.S. District Attorney’s Office said 30-year-old Joshua Gamble was sentenced to 180 months in prison after previously pleading guilty. Gamble was also ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, to serve 20 years of supervised release after being released from prison, and to register as a sex offender. He is not eligible for parole.
Court documents show that the FBI began their investigation into Gamble in 2021 after he reportedly distributed child porn via an internet chat application. After searching Gamble’s room in the Fort Gordon barracks, Gamble was arrested in October 2021.
The investigation also determined that prior to joining the U.S. Army in May 2021, Gamble worked as a middle-school paraprofessional in Minnesota.
“Joshua Gamble could have served honorably in the military, but instead served his own depravity by using the internet to exploit vulnerable children,” said U.S. Attorney David H. Estes.
