Fashion show and pop up vendors to help facilitate mental health talk

CSRA News

A local event will help the community open up more about people dealing with mental health challenges.

That event is Stop the Stigma! Mental Health Celebrity Pop Up and Fashion Show.

NewsChannel 6 spoke with Ebonnia Paz, the event organizer and a personal care home owner who works with people with mental health challenges.  She said her group wanted to put together a fun activity to get people talking about issues such as bi-polar and schizophrenia.

“We try to think that we’re better than them if we don’t have that mental issue.  But actually we don’t. [We know] Someone in our family or [a] friend or someone who does deal with mental health.  And I think that the community needs to be aware that it’s important,”  Pas explained.

The Stop the Stigma Mental! Mental Health Celebrity Pop Up and Fashion Show takes place Friday, May 10 at Julian Smith Casino in Augusta.  The event will be from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.  For tickets on Eventbrite, click here.
