It’s difficult to put things like this into words. Even though Joshua Ryer Junior’s time here on Earth was cut short, the impact he made in his community through service will never be forgotten.
Deputy Ryer Jr. was a 2017 graduate of Evans High School. After high school, he decided to put his life on the line for strangers.
He joined the Glascock County Sheriff’s Office. He had big dreams of being in federal law enforcement.
Unfortunately, just a few short months later, tragedy struck. Last week, while on duty, Deputy Ryer Jr. was in a car accident in Washington, Ga. The accident claimed his life.
On February 3, 2019, hundreds of people came to Glascock County High School for his funeral. Many others saluted alongside the road, as the funeral procession made its way to the gravesite.
Deputy Ryer Jr. was only 19-years-old. He is survived by his parents, grandparents, and sister.
It is planned soon Glascock County Sheriff Jeremy Kelly and Deputy Ryer Junior’s family will make a statement regarding the tragic loss.
