Some of the rides at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair might catch your attention but, NewsChannel 6 found a few hidden gems showcasing local artistic skills.
“I come to the fair to look at all the exhibits,” said Asia Newton.
Newton enjoys the food at the fair. Not so much the rides. Even though some people come to the fair for the turkey legs, Newton finds time to escape inside of a building.
She said, “A lot of people like to watch war things and it’s a great example of war times.”
According to Newton, she checked out the Georgialina Scale Modelers exhibit. The Americana theme showcased mostly military scale models which brought back fond memories for Newton.
“It reminds me of when we were in Camp Lejeune when my husband was in the Marine Corps and then into the army he was at Ft. Knox,” explained Newton.
Other exhibits featured a LEGO village and the artistic talents of many people throughout the River Region.
The Georgia-Carolina Fair lasts all week and will end on October 21.
