Some Augusta leaders are looking forward to re-opening the debate on the storm water program.
They’re going to have a workshop on how storm water fees are being spent.
Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle says rural areas should be exempt because only four percent of the spending on projects are in in his district.
Commissioner Andrew Jefferson says the program was in place before he was on the commission.
So he wants a review to make sure all those paying storm water fees are being treated fairly.
“The collection of it you can’t beat the collection of the money, but at the same time you want to make sure we’re giving the people that’s due what’s they’re do, and the people who are not reaping the benefits make sure we take care of them as well,” says Commissioner Andrew Jefferson.
commissioners approved a review of the ordinance when they adopted the storm water fee. That review is supposed to come at the 5 year mark. But Commissioner Jefferson says if it needs tweaking, why wait?
