Commissioner says city pot farm would be great idea

An Augusta Commissioner thinks the city growing pot could be a great idea.

The city owns land off Lovers Lane and commissioner Bill Fennoy wants to discus using it to grow 600 acres of weed.

Medical marijuana and cannabis oils are now legal in Georgia.

Fennoy says with the Cancer Center and other medical research going on in Augusta, it might  be a good fit.

“We have some farmland down there on Lover’s Lane. I think it would be a great idea and a good partnership for the city to look into the possibility of growing medical marijuana,” said Commissioner Bill Fennoy.

Fennoy says he hasn’t discuss the proposal with fellow commissioners but plans to at Tuesday’s Administrative Sevices  Committee meeting.
