One Augusta leader says the city isn’t ready right now to stretch its sea legs.
As we’ve reported, Commissioners approved moving forward to buy a used pontoon boat.
The idea is it would allow the city to open the river to boat rides or use it as a water taxi.
But one Commissioner says the vote doesn’t mean getting the boat is a done deal.
“I think we need to take a little more review and outlining a good plan and program for it versus just going ahead and jump behind a boat I think we need to make sure all the details has already been you know looked at,” said Commissioner Dennis Williams.
The motion says the city will check with the DNR to see if the boat can be operated by a city worker or would in need a more expensive licensed captain.
