Augusta leaders are preparing to talk about growing pot.
Commissioners scheduled to discuss next week a proposal from Commissioner Bill Fennoy to discuss growing medical marijuana on 600 acres of city land off Lovers Lane in east Augusta.
A bill signed earlier this month by Governor Brian Kemp makes it legal in the state to grow medical marijuana, and produce low grade cannabis oils.
But it only grants permission to six companies and two state universities to do it..
Commissioner Fennoy says fellow commissioners may not go along but at least they should have the discussion.
