Columbia County’s traffic engineer moving on

EVANS, GA (WJBF) NewsChannel 6 has confirmed that Columbia County’s head of traffic engineering has submitted his resignation.

Steve Cassell turned in his notice Tuesday and says his last day on the job will be May 24th. There is no word on why Cassell submitted his resignation and there has yet to be an interim named.

Steve Cassel was the head of traffic engineering for Augusta-Richmond County before being hired by Columbia County officials in 2016.  Cassel has been instrumental in the development of Augusta’s traffic plan for the Masters Tournament as well as new road work in growing Columbia County.
