Columbia County Fire Rescue has three new trucks to add to its fleet

The county showed off the two pumper trucks, Wednesday morning.

The trucks have the most up to date equipment, including new lighting to alert other vehicles on the road and better communication devices for firefighters in the cab.

There’s one new edition the firefighters say they’re particularly proud of which is a dedication decal to Chief Doug Cooper who died in February.

“It’s really a special privilege to be able to carry Chief Cooper’s memory with us. I remember in July of 2007, having my interview with Chief Cooper, and have him show me the confidence to start this job,” said Firefighter Evan Davis.

The money for the trucks was built into the county budget as part of a replacement program based on factors such as mileage, use, age and maintenance costs.  A new aerial truck, which will arrive next week, is part of the general obligation bond project list.
