Canal cleanup on commission agenda

The condition of a portion of the Augusta Canal is heading to commissioners.

The part of the canal in question is the section between 8th Street and Twiggs Street.

Commissioner Marion Williams says after spending money to upgrade this part of the canal it’s now choked with weeds and litter.

The commission Public Services Committee is scheduled to discuss the need for a cleanup at its meeting on Tuesday.
