Some local golfers teed off to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
This was the first year for the charity golf fundraiser, “Birdies for Brain Health.” It was put on by day one fitness.
The executive director, Tambra Wilkerson says several participants played for a loved one who lives with the disease.
“Three out of five Americans will be diagnosed for a neurological condition such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson,” explained Wilkerson. “So it’s common, and these diseases have impacted many people.”
Wilkerson adds all proceeds will go to the non-profit organization to offer high-intensity exercise for people living with Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s.
