AIKEN, S.C. (WJBF) – The Aiken Department of Public Safety is investigating following a deadly crash involving a bicyclist.
Investigators say on Monday, March 25 at about 8:31 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of York Street and Rutland Drive near the CVS in reference to a collision.
An investigation revealed a bicyclist, later identified by the Coroner’s Office as James Hicks, 56, of Aiken, was struck and killed by a vehicle traveling south on York Street. “After the collision, the vehicle remained on scene,“ authorities added.
Hicks died of blunt force injuries, toxicology analysis are pending, officials say.
This is Aiken County 9th traffic fatality.
