HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WJBF) — One person is dead following a motor vehicle crash on Story Mill Road.

The Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a man, who was killed in a motor vehicle crash.

The victim is identified as Charles Prescott, 39, of Hephzibah.

Richmond County dispatchers originally told NewsChannel 6 early Saturday that the incident happened in the 4500 block of Brothersville Road. The coroner, however, says the incident took place in the 4700 block Story Mill Road.

Officials say Prescott was the sole occupant of a pickup truck traveling south on the 4700 block Story Mill Road, just before 6, Saturday, November 9. Prescott’s vehicle struck a van head-on as it traveled northbound.

Prescott was pronounced dead on the scene and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

His cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma, according to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen.

Meanwhile, the family of the other person involved shared with NewsChannel 6 that the other victim was transported to the Medical Centers of Georgia for injuries sustained.

Those injuries include a broken jaw, left elbow, and left foot. He is “alive and has been responsive,” they added.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of everyone involved.
