The River Region is growing and so is Augusta Regional Airport. New rules are taking effect this week to increase safety.
When you drive up to Augusta Regional’s curbside, you’ll now see signs limiting the time you can park there. They read ‘Loading and Unloading Only.’
After 9-11, the TSA released safety guideline recommendations for airports to follow. Now, people can only pack or unpack luggage from cars at the curb. People can be picked up there, but drivers must wait in the “cell phone parking” lot.
“Augusta Regional Airport is the hometown airport, but we are busy and we are growing, so it is the perfect time to really enforce the curb enforcement,” Lauren Smith, PR for the airport, told us.
The Marshal’s Office is monitoring this, and tickets/towing will be used to enforce.
