“The city of Augusta pulls out of the James Brown Birthday Bash at the Miller Theater.

Commissioners voting not to contribute ten thousand dollars for the event.

Last week commissioners said the Miller was too small for the event, and instead said it needed to be moved to the Augusta Common.
But the Miller Theater said that wasn’t part of the plan.
“It was really not something we could do the idea again was since there was nothing planned we thought we have the venue why do we do it we really wanted to do it with the city’s  support so we could say the city of Augusta presents the James Brown Birthday Bash,” said Coco Rubio, Miller Theater Operations Manager.
Rubio says the theater is looking for another sponsor and still plans to hold the birthday bash and offer free tickets to the public.
