Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis held a signing ceremony for the city’s new smoke-free ordinance Thursday afternoon.
That ceremonial signing took place at the Georgia Cancer Center.
The ordinance makes all enclosed workspaces, public buildings and most hotel rooms in the city smoke and vape-free.
“It’s a place of choice. We’re gonna be able to continue to do business. People will still be able to smoke if they choose, but outside, not in the enclosed spaces and I think that creates a healthier Augusta.”
The ordinance takes effect January 1st, 2019.
