Some Augusta leaders want to get more millage out of the storm water fee.
Right now more than two million dollars of the fee is used to cut hundreds of miles of grass along city right of ways
These roadsides are cut four times per year, but some city leaders say that’s not getting the job done.
“One of the things that I found is that we’re not doing it year round, we’re all familiar with our climate here weeds grow year round, I think that is something we should address year round,” says Commissioner Brandon Garrett.
City Engineers say they would like increase the number of cuts per year to six, adding one in April and October, however they say that would increase the costs of by about one point two million dollars.
