Tuesday Augusta Commissioner will re-visit the issue of strip clubs.

Recently, City leaders turned down a proposal to change city code  to allow the transferring of adult entertainment licenses downtown to an heir.

This means they will close once the owner quits or dies.

Adult entertainment is allowed in light industrial zoned areas in town, however regulations say no alcohol can be served.

“And there’s nothing wrong with an adult entrainment establishment even serving liquor long as they go through the legal process of licensing and they get the approval of the Sheriff’s Department and all these things there’s no reason for them not to operate,” says Commissioner Dennis Williams.

Williams says he’s not encouraging more clubs.

He just wants to make it easier for those who want to open one, to be successful.
