From city project to official city event.
Back in May, commissioners heard from some Augusta University marketing students who proposed holding a formal dinner on the Fifth Street Bridge and inviting the public.
The idea was a hit with city leaders and now the Administrator is recommending spending $37 thousand dollars next year on the event called “Bridge the Gap.”
“It’s helpful to think the city is listening to our college students and our millennial as they engage and move forward I think it is something that is going to be very positive especially with all the great things that are happening downtown especially with these new events like the soul festival coming in and so to be a part of this process I think is a great thing for us to be involved with,” said David Peltier, one of the Marketing Students behind Bridge the Gap.
Under the students plan Bridge the Gap would be a fun raiser to help local charities like homelessness in Augusta
